The Bank Street College of Education includes a k-6 school for children. The Children’s Library serves the school and functions in conjunction with the college. The library project is part of a multi-phased re-stack of the existing 1950s building. The children’s library is shown in the drawing below. The Center for Environmental Research and Conservation, on the Morningside campus of Columbia University, is an 18,000 sq. ft. facility that occupies three floors. Originally a typical doubled-loaded plan, the center spine of the space was opened to create a sun-lit circulation space that doubles as a lounge and meeting area. The glass-enclosed conference room forms the central focus and organizing element of the 2,500 square foot attorney’s office. The use of alternating blue frosted and clear glass adds an element of playfulness to the composition while providing both light and privacy.
